At Abernathy Church of Christ, our vision is to:

  • Worship in Spirit and Truth - Honoring God through heartfelt worship, prayer, and the proclamation of His Word (John 4:24).

  • Teaching Biblical Truth - Sharing the gospel of Christ and equipping believers with sound doctrine (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

  • Loving One Another - Fostering a community of faith that reflects the love, grace, and unity found in Christ (John 13:34-35).

  • Serving Others - Demonstrating the love of Christ through acts of compassion, service, and outreach to those in need (Matthew 25:35-40).

  • Making Disciples - Fulfilling the Great Commission by spreading the gospel and nurturing spiritual growth in all nations (Matthew 28:19-20).

2025 Theme

Welcome to our family, where we are embracing the theme "Stand Firm," inspired by I Corinthians 15:58. This year, we celebrate the strength and dedication of our congregation, recognizing the milestones that shape our shared journey—births, baptisms, and cherished memories. Our banners not only display our history but also honor the accomplishments of our members as they showcase their love for the Lord. Join us as we commemorate special events, such as our annual skating party for the AHS Sr. Class, Back to School Cookout, "Christmas is for the Kids" and the Easter Egg Hunt with the Texas Girls and Boys Ranch, ending each year with our joyful tradition of caroling, reinforcing our bond together as a church family.

Meet our Ministry Team and Staff

Jared Randall

Minister

Jared began serving as the pulpit minister at Abernathy Church of Christ in 2023 after graduating from Lubbock Christian University. However, he was no stranger to our congregation, having previously served as our youth ministry intern during his senior year of college. Originally from Southlake, Jared gained valuable ministry experience as a camp counselor at Deer Run and through mission trips to Nicaragua. As is often the case in a small-town congregation, Jared wears many hats—he is also deeply involved in our youth program. We are grateful and blessed to have Jared leading and serving alongside us.

Harold Bufe

Elder

Harold and his wife, Linda, will celebrate 50 years of marriage in August 2025. They are proud parents to Cheri and her husband, Jake Liess, Lori, and Ryan and his wife, Ashley, and are actively involved in the lives of their six grandchildren. Harold attended services in Abernathy growing up and, after returning to the community with his family in 1988, began serving as a deacon. In 1994, he was appointed as an elder and has remained a steadfast leader ever since. His experience as a band director and school principal gave him a strong foundation for working well with others while always striving to do what is right. When not serving our church family, Harold and Linda can often be found cheering on their grandkids at their many activities.

Mark Williams

Elder

Mark and his wife, Traci, moved to Abernathy in the fall of 2022 to be closer to their grandchildren.  Mark retired from the US Air Force and Traci is a retired teacher. Married for 40 years, they have three children—Jessica, Jed, and Julie, and her husband, Adam Setliff. They quickly became an integral part of our congregation. Mark was recently chosen to serve as an elder and has provided valuable wisdom and guidance to the church family. He also enjoys teaching adult Bible classes. When not fulfilling his responsibilities as an elder, you’ll likely find Mark working on their country property while Traci tends to her chickens. They enjoy taking trips in their camper and riding their motorcycle.  Like many devoted grandparents, they spend much of their time supporting their three grandchildren in their various activities.

They are proud parents of Kristi and her husband, Scott Bickel; Scott and his wife, Nicci; and Michael and his wife, Mindy. They love supporting their children and grandchildren in all their endeavors. Retired from the United States Postal Service, Allen stays busy working alongside his son Michael, renovating homes and maintaining lawns. He does a fantastic job keeping our facilities looking great, while Shirley lends her support in many ways, including adding charming decorations for our events.
